Mortise Deadbolt No.H21.16.007 can be operate only by thumb-turn.Great for living rooms, dens, basements, closets and other rooms where locking is needed. Deadbolts are a very common feature in homes. A deadbolt can be used on its own, or in conjunction with a regular door lock. The deadbolt can be placed higher or lower on the door than the handle and is thrown from the inside with a turning knob, or unlocked from the outside with emergency coin release. When this is turned, the latch moves from inside the lock mechanism, into the receptacle in the door frame. Our mortise deadbolt is far more secure than tubular deadbolt that attach to the outside of a door frame.A mortise deadbolt needs a mortise, or a pocket, in the door frame to operate correctly. The bolt of the lock fits into the mortise. These types of deadbolt require door preparation, so if your door isn't currently mortise to fit this kind of deadbolt, you (or a professional installer) will need to use a mortise saw to cut into the door to fits door deadbolt properly. Take note that not all mortise deadbolt have the same dimensions.
